The Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarships honor JEA’s longtime treasurer and recognize the nation’s top high school journalists. Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship

Each year The American Legion accepts nominations for its Eagle Scout of the Year beginning November 1 and closing March 1. Candidates must submit a complete nomination packet to their appropriate American Legion Department (state) so that it is received by March 1.
State-level selection and forwarding
The Selection Committee for each American Legion Department will review its nominees and choose the Eagle Scout judged to be the strongest in that state. The Department must then forward that winner’s packet, together with a roster of the Selection Committee members, to The American Legion National Headquarters by April 1.
