The Horatio Alger Association manages more than 70 scholarship opportunities designed to help students at different points in their educational journeys pursue higher education and reach their potential. Details about these awards are summarized below. How to determine eligibility and apply - Read the eligibility criteria listed below to identify which scholarships you may qualify for. - Completing a single application will automatically place you in consideration for all scholarships for which you meet the criteria; a small number of awards require a separate, specific application. Eligibility requirements - Current enrollment as a full-time high school junior in the state of Georgia. (Note: 25 scholarships are specifically reserved for students who live in Walker, Catoosa, Dade, Chattooga, Gordon, Floyd, Whitfield, or Bartow counties.) - A demonstrated commitment to begin and finish a bachelor’s degree at an accredited, nonprofit public or private college or university in the United States immediately following high school graduation. Applicants may start at a two-year institution and later transfer to a four-year school. - Financial need as shown by an adjusted gross family income of $100,000 or less. - Active participation in co-curricular activities and community service. - Evidence of integrity and persistence in overcoming significant adversity. - A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. - United States citizenship.
