Overview
Each year the Freehold Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) awards scholarships to women who have returned to college to finish their degrees. The application window runs annually from January through July for awards covering the following academic year. The deadline for submissions is July 31.
2026–2027 Awards
The Freehold Branch is accepting applications now for the 2026–2027 academic year. Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded, subject to available funds raised by the branch’s annual June AAUW Book Sale in Freehold, NJ. These awards are named in honor of outstanding volunteer leaders, Lew Williams and Joan Odud.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be female and at least 25 years old.
- Live in Monmouth County or Middlesex County, NJ.
- Be enrolled in an accredited degree program:
- Bachelor’s degree students must have completed at least 60 credits; or
- Master’s degree students must have completed at least 6 credits.
- Maintain a GPA of B or better.
- Not be a previous recipient of this scholarship.
Application Materials and Deadline
All application materials — the completed application, official transcripts, and two letters of recommendation — must be received by July 31, 2026.
