DBB, Inc. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Overview
Since 1984, DBB, Inc. has awarded an annual scholarship to deserving high school seniors. Candidates must demonstrate solid academic performance (grades and test scores), proven leadership in school and community activities, and clear financial need.

Award
DBB, Inc. will present one (1) cash scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00. A commemorative plaque will be presented to the recipient at an appropriate event. After the recipient’s college enrollment is confirmed, the scholarship check will be issued to the school.

Who is eligible?
High school seniors who have participated in a franchised DBB, Inc. program and who intend to pursue undergraduate study at a college or university are eligible to apply. DBB, Inc. programs include:
- Boys (ages 13–14)
- 15U (age 15 and under)
- Pre Majors (ages 15–17)
- Majors (ages 15–19)

Application period and notification
Applications are accepted beginning September 1 of the applicant’s senior year through March 1. The recipient will be selected by April 1 and notified promptly.

Application instructions
1. Complete and sign the application form and mail it to the Commissioner so it is postmarked on or before the deadline.
2. Have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign the parent/guardian section of the application.
3. Provide two letters of recommendation:
- One from someone familiar with your accomplishments and potential.
- A second from a school official or another non-relative (no relatives).
4. Submit a Statement of Participation from your LOCAL DBB LEAGUE OFFICIAL. That statement must address:
- The applicant’s years of participation
- The applicant’s attitude while involved in the program
- The applicant’s team spirit and leadership abilities
5. Include a handwritten personal essay of 150 words or fewer, signed by the applicant. Suggested topics are your career goals, how college fits into those plans, and how you intend to contribute to society; creative formats are acceptable.
6. Enclose one formal photograph (coat and tie, cap and gown, or other formal attire).

- Completed application form
- Letter of recommendation from a school official
- Letter of recommendation from a non-relative
- Statement of Participation from a DBB official
- Handwritten, signed personal essay (150 words max)
- One formal picture (coat and tie or cap and gown)
