Ray A. Peacock Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Ray A. Peacock Scholarship Foundation
Introduction Cecil and Theresa Peacock established the Ray Anthony Peacock Scholarship Fund in memory of their son, Ray Anthony Peacock. Ray graduated from Burkeville High School in 1977 and had begun coursework at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Tragically, he passed away later that same year. During his short life Ray distinguished himself through academic achievement and community involvement. Purpose The scholarship exists to support students who reflect Ray’s commitment to academic excellence and public service. It is intended for graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education, demonstrate strong writing ability, have a record of community or public service, and show financial need. The award encourages recipients to pursue higher education while considering how their work can address societal needs and improve their communities. Use of Funds Scholarship awards are intended to supplement — not duplicate — benefits from other educational sources (institutions, foundations, or organizations). Funds may be used for tuition, room and board, or the purchase of books. Payments will be made directly to the accredited institution the recipient will attend.
