Ben Brock Memorial Scholarship

Ben Brock devoted his life to learning, particularly in the areas of computer science and geography. He was committed to growing his own expertise and eagerly shared what he knew, serving as a mentor to peers and newcomers alike.
In Ben’s memory, this scholarship supports lifelong learners who have ties to the military—whether as current service members, veterans, or family members of those who serve or have served. The award seeks applicants who, like Ben, are continually expanding their skills and knowledge.
Eligibility
- Open to high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students.
- Applicants must be majoring in one of these fields: geography, software engineering, or computer science.
- Applicants must be either active military personnel, veterans, or immediate family members of active military or veterans.
How to apply
Submit a personal statement explaining two things:
1) what sparked your interest in geography or in computer science/software engineering, and
2) your connection to the military (for example, your own service or the service of a family member).
This scholarship honors Ben’s commitment to ongoing learning and mentorship by helping military-connected students pursue studies in the disciplines he loved.
