We’re pleased to assist you as you work toward your educational objectives. Below are the qualifications and policies for consideration for the Modoc PostSecondary Scholarship. Read carefully to confirm you meet the requirements.
Eligibility
- Must have been an enrolled member of the Modoc Nation for at least one full calendar year.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have no unpaid balance at any previously attended institution of higher education.
- Please note: Modoc Nation funding is available for only one degree, diploma, or vocational certificate.
Available Awards
- Bachelor’s students: $9,500 per semester, up to 8 semesters
- Graduate students (master’s): $7,500 per semester, up to 4 semesters
- Ph.D. or J.D. programs: $7,500 per semester, up to 6 semesters
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) programs: $7,500 per semester, up to 8 semesters
- Vocational/technical trade programs: $6,000 per semester
Important Policies and Requirements
- Summer sessions are not eligible for funding.
- If a student fails to meet the scholarship’s minimum standards, they will be suspended from the program. To be reinstated, the student must complete a subsequent semester/term—without Modoc Nation funding—enrolling and successfully passing at least 12 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Awards are provisional and require Tribal approval. No payment is guaranteed until the check is issued.
- Applications received or postmarked after the deadline will be denied and returned to the applicant.
- All applicants must submit a Pell Grant application. Apply free at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Filing for Pell will not change your eligibility or the amount of the Modoc scholarship.
- Funding availability through the Modoc Nation Educational Department may change at any time.
- Part-time award option: For enrollment at 6–11 credits, a part-time award of $2,000 per semester (or $1,333.34 per term) may be available. To qualify for this part-time award, the student must be employed at least 20 hours per week and provide proof of employment and hours worked. Semesters/terms funded as part-time count toward the recipient’s total allowable semesters/terms under Modoc awards.
